Hello, everyone and welcome to my blog Obsidian Concepts. The purpose of this blog is to share my passions for firearms and gear, tactics, military, and news within the industry. I want to create a hub of reliable, cohesive, and relevant material for today's shooter. I am seeking to appeal to all demographics so the novice, experienced, LE and military communities. I am here to be transparent and honest on all matters discussed or chronicled here. I will post content once a week at minimum or more often if time allows.
Now, a little bit about me. I served six years in the Marines Corps as an 0311. I was in 2nd BN 4th Marines, 5th Marine Reg, 1st Mar Div. I was in Golf Company while in 2/4. I was deployed twice during my time in. I did one deployment to Afghanistan and my second was on the 31st MEU. I departed the military in September of 2015. I currently work as an RSO at a local range in Vegas.

Last night, Georgia held its Senate Runoff election for its two senate seats in Congress. Those two seats were crucial to both Democrats and Republicans in the next congressional term stating this year. If the Republicans maintained those seats they would continue with the senate majority, lead by Minority Leader McConnell. Giving the Republicans the ability to block potentially harmful democrat legislation. If the Democrats where to win it would create a tie in the senate. Leading to the Vice President being the tie breaker on potential legislation votes. With Kamala Harris potential the new VP, it would allow for progressive legislation to move essentially unopposed through both houses.
Recently, four New York Assembly members introduced Bill A352 to the New York Senate floor. This bill seeks to amend and add to New York penal law 270.21. This amendment of penal law 270.21 by Bill A352 would make buying and purchasing of body armor illegal to own in New York State.

This year for the firearm industry and community has seen tremendous growth. While having to deal with struggle as well. In 2020, we experienced record sales and growth of companies. We faced the challenges of canceled trade shows. All the while dealing with the tyranny of government and it’s agencies. (Talking to you ATF) Throughout, all those obstacles due to Covid-19 lockdowns, mass civil unrest, and tyranny from the government the industry continued to flourish. As, Americans have sought firearms for self defense in these chaotic times we reside in. The value of gun ownership has been made very clear during the unprecedented times we live in.
Recently, Smith and Wesson announced that they have provided over 600 new pistols to their hometown police department, the Springfield PD. The police department will be replacing S&W M&P 40 with the S&W M&P 2.0 as their new duty pistol. It’s is unclear weather the department will be switching to 9mm or staying with .40 cal.
