Yesterday, it was announced by Vortex that the US Army has issued an Other Transaction Authority (or OTA) to Vortex Optics. In this solicitation the Army is pursuing Vortex to manufacture a prototype optic for the Next Generation Squad Weapon Program-Fire Control Unit. (NGSW-FC).
Last week, the U.S. Army released the finalist for the Next Generation Squad Weapon Program. The Army was fielding prototype rifle and automatic rifle to replace the M-16. Three companies were chosen to advance with their prototype rifles. That was Sig Sauer, General Dynamics, and AAI/Textron Systems.
