Palmetto State Armory’s Olcan Brings the JAKL Platform Into a Bullpup Configuration
Last week, Palmetto State Armory announced the release of the Olcan, a bullpup variant of its popular JAKL rifle. The Olcan is built around the JAKL’s monolithic upper receiver, which houses the bolt and recoil assembly entirely within the upper, making the conversion to the Olcan configuration possible.
The Olcan upper features a 14.5-inch 5.56 NATO barrel with a pin-and-welded SilencerCo ASR muzzle device, a knurled ambidextrous charging handle, and an eight-position adjustable gas block. The lower features a mil-spec trigger, an ambidextrous magazine release, and a Die Free Co. Kung Fu Grip to complete the build. Combined, these components create a compact, suppressor-ready bullpup that blends the JAKL’s piston-driven system with standard AR style controls.

Palmetto State Armory is proud to announce the long-awaited release of the Olcan, the bullpup JAKL Rifle chambered in 5.56 NATO! This platform is built around a 6105 monolithic rifle-length upper receiver with a buffer system that is fully captured into the upper receiver. The bullpup lower receiver offers an ambidextrous magazine release and a shorter overall length. Completed with a Pin & Weld SilencerCo ASR Flash Hider and Die Free Co Kung Fu grip. Cerakote FDE finish.
The PSA Olcan features a long-stroke piston design with a Carpenter 158 bolt and 4340 carrier that are an AK/AR hybrid. Our Knurled JAKL side charging handle is ambidextrous, allowing the user to change positions to the left or right side of the receiver without the use of tools. Equipped with a toolless 8-position gas block, this feature offers the ability to quickly adjust your gas block by hand when needed. Field stripping and removal of the JAKL carrier, recoil assembly, and sled assembly can all be done without tools for effortless cleaning.
SilencerCo ASR Flash Hider, Pin & Welded on 14.5″ 5.56 NATO Barrel – The ASR Flash Hider is compatible with ASR (Active Spring Retention) Mounts. The ASR (Active Spring Retention) Mount is a quick attach/detach system for almost all SilencerCo suppressors. The simple one-hand-on, one-hand-off mounting system is compatible with all ASR Muzzle Devices to promote ease of transfer from one silencer to another. Once shouldered, the locking ring ensures the silencer won’t rotate or work itself loose under a heavy firing schedule. The patent-pending resonance suppression effectively eliminates the tuning-fork effect common with competing 3-prong Flash Hiders.
