Big news just dropped from Power-Con 2019, when Kevin Smith made a surprise visit to announce a new Masters of the Universe anime coming to Netflix.

The title of the new anime show will be Masters of the Universe:Revelation. The anime will be focusing on some of the unresolved story arcs from the original tv show. Smith will serve as show runner and executive producer for the anime.

Kevin shared his thoughts on working on the new Masters of the Universe project at Power-Con stating, “I’m Eternia-ly grateful to Mattel TV and Netflix for entrusting me with not only the secrets of Grayskull, but also their entire Universe. Smith continues, “In ‘Revelation,’ we pick up right where the classic era left off to tell an epic tale of what may be the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor! Brought to life with the most metal character designs Powerhouse Animation can contain in the frame, this is the Masters of the Universe story you always wanted to see as a kid!”

Mattel is deeply involved in the project and also contributing to producing the new Masters anime. Executive producers will be Kevin Smith and Rob David, the Vice President of Mattel. The writer staff will include, Eric Carrasco (Supergirl), Tim Sheridan (The Reign of Superman), Diya Mishra (Magic the Gathering), and Marc Bernardin (Alphas).

What do you think the new Masters of the Universe has a chance to be good? Do you trust Kevin Smith to do protect the property? Let me know in the comments below.
