Jacob Grey Hex Pro: Performance, Refined Through Evolution
At Shot Show 2026, Jacob Grey unveiled the Hex Pro, the latest evolution of its popular Hex handgun. The Hex Pro is an evolution and of the Hex by Jacob Grey. The engineering team at Jacob Grey took, the original Hex’s design language, engineering lessons, and performance goals, and pushing them further through execution. The result is a pistol that stays true to its geometric roots while elevating design, ergonomics, and performance.
Design Philosophy: Evolution and Performance

The Hex Pro was developed with a clear design mandate: improvement without compromise. The foundation established by the original Hex was already strong, so the emphasis shifted toward, “How can we build a better handgun than the Hex?”
Every design choice feels intentional. Rather than following legacy dimensions or trends, Jacob Grey continued to explore how far the platform could be pushed through thoughtful engineering and precision manufacturing. This was accomplished through slide redesign, ergonomics overhaul, and creating an even flatter shooting firearm in comparison to its predecessor, without abandoning the platform’s core identity.
Slide and Barrel: Function Meets Design Language
The Hex Pro features a revised slide with updated front and rear serration patterns designed to improve grip during manipulation. The front sight has been slightly repositioned rearward to accommodate a machined window for the barrel’s chunk port, a change that balances function without disrupting the slide’s visual flow when looking down sights.

At the core is a 4.6-inch stainless steel bull barrel, CNC-machined with a chunk port and finished in PVD-coated Carbon Grey. Stainless steel was selected for longevity, and the barrel features a 1:10 twist rate match grade barrel to optimize accuracy. How accurate or inaccurate will solely be based on the schooner’s capabilities. A closer look reveals the hexagonal design continuing all the way to the crown. Whether functional or purely aesthetic, it reinforces the platform’s geometric identity.
Frame, Grip, and Materials
The frame is machined from billet 4140 hardened steel, paired with a grip module made from 7075 aluminum. The grip features a redesigned hexagonal pattern compared to the original Hex, striking a balance between traction and comfort. The goal is control without abrasiveness, allowing the shooter to maintain a locked-in grip during extended strings of fire.
The frame, slide, and grip are all finished in DLC, giving the pistol a cohesive appearance while enhancing durability.
Show Floor Impressions

While I wasn’t able to shoot the Hex Pro, handling it multiple times on the Shot Show floor provided a clear sense of its intent and potential. Ergonomics are carefully considered, including the deletion of the traditional backstrap safety area. That section is now flush and contoured to better fit the shooter’s hand, with the lower portion of the back-strap subtly juts out to sit naturally against the dominant hand.
The updated grip pattern helps fully engage the hand without feeling overly aggressive. Dry fire impressions revealed an excellent trigger: featuring a clearly defined wall, a straight pull, an estimated 2.5–3-pound break, and a short, tactile reset. Slide manipulation is exceptionally smooth, with tight but refined tolerances that make racking effortless.
How is the Hex Pro for?
The Hex Pro is precision, refinement, and performance wrapped all into one. It’s clearly designed for the discerning shooter, someone who values build quality, reliability, and thoughtful engineering, and who can fully exploit what the pistol offers.
This is another “supercar” handgun by Jacob Grey, being announced at Shot Show. It rewards skill and experience, rather than masking fundamental issues. Whether for serious competition use, collectors of well-built firearms, or shooters seeking a meaningful performance edge, the Hex Pro occupies a very deliberate space.
Pricing and Availability
The Jacob Grey Hex Pro carries an MSRP of $4,800. According to Jacob Grey, the Hex Pro will begin shipping to authorized dealers in February 2026. Sales will be handled exclusively through dealer allocation, ensuring consistent availability and a premium retail experience.
