Shortly after the introduction of the company’s latest offerings such as the Impulse Mountain Hunter, Savage will be offering some of its most popular rifle models in 7mm PRC. 7mm PRC is an excellent round for precision shooting and hunting larger game. The new Savage 7mm PRC capabilities will be added to eleven of Savage’s currently existing rifles and should be available towards the end of 2022.
The new 7mm PRC cartridge is designed to have a maximum cartridge overall length of 3.340 and is optimized for barrels with a 1:8 twist. This twist rate was chosen to help stabilize the upper end of the 7mm PRC bullet weights. Shooters can expect to achieve a muzzle velocity of 3,000 fps from a 24” barrel using 175-grain and 180-grain bullets.

WESTFIELD, Massachusetts – October 26, 2022 – Following the recent launch of the Impulse Mountain Hunter, Savage Arms is thrilled to introduce a wide array of rifles chambered in one of the newest long-action cartridges, 7mm PRC from Hornady®. The 7mm PRC provides ultimate performance without compromising accuracy.

Optimized for ultimate long-range shooting and big game hunts, the Hornady® 7mm PRC utilizes long, high BC bullets for excellent and repeatable execution. The case is designed to use common, temperature-stable, magnum-speed propellants yielding consistent velocity and increased barrel life. These rifles are hunt-ready and changing the game for 2023.
Savage will offer 11 different rifle configurations available for the 7mm PRC cartridge. Prices will range from $709 for their Apex Hunter XP up to $2,437 for their Impulse Mountain Hunter. According to Savage, the new 7mm PRC rifles will be available in late 2022.
