No Set Screws, No Hassle: Herrington Arms Releases Universal Comp V2

Herrington Arms has announced the release of the Universal Comp V2, the second generation of its micro compensator designed to simplify installation while delivering practical recoil mitigation.

Originally developed to streamline the mounting process of traditional compensators, the Universal Comp platform eliminates the need for complex timing, set screws, or torque specifications. The V2 iteration continues that philosophy, offering a balance of ease of use, recoil reduction, and clean aesthetics across a wide range of handgun platforms.

Performance-wise, Herrington Arms states the V2 can reduce muzzle rise by up to 25%, depending on the firearm and ammunition used. While not as aggressive as model-specific compensators, the trade-off is broad compatibility and simplified use.

This is the micro UNIVERSAL compensator with a similar form function as a thread protector but offers the same recoil reduction as a compensator! Please note that this fits most 9mm pistol setups. This fits subcompact and full size handguns. However, some of the longer barrels like on a Sig P320, it will not sit up against the slide and have a gap. Pay close attention to the protrusion of the barrel and where the threads end AND start on said barrel you install this on. It will make the difference between the comp looking like it belongs on the gun vs. awkwardly sticking off the front. Eliminates approximately 25% of muzzle flip depending on what platform it is installed on.

We often get the question asking what the difference is between our model specific comps vs. our universal comps:

Universal Comps: A big thing to keep in mind with the universal comps is just that, universality. We designed these comps to fit on a multitude of 9mm platforms and we had to reduce the port size, so that it will not effect functionality, but still reduce muzzle flip at the same time. They are also great for those that want to run a compensator, but not have to mess with set screws and torque specs. Because they mount utilizing an O-ring design, they are also convenient for those that want to run a comp but like to switch to using their suppressor as well. There are tons of brands and firearms that we do not make compensators for, and the Universal comp helps us close that gap.

Model Specific Comps: Model specific comps are specifically designed and tested with the intended firearm they mount to. They often match the design and esthetics of the gun AND are engineered to reliably run with said specific model. We design the port sizes to be friendly to the recoil system that comes with the gun from the factory (after the recommended break in period) and also aftermarket offerings. Model specific comps are also a more “permanent” design for reliability purposes. If you have a firearm that we make a model specific comp for, we highly recommend using that comp. This being said, a lot of the models we make specific comps for are also great hosts for the universal comps.

Availability & Price Point

With the Universal Comp V2, Herrington Arms continues to refine a product aimed at accessibility and flexibility rather than maximum performance alone.
