Hey what’s up everyone? Welcome to another installment of Snapshot. Where I give you a little bit of insight into my noggin. I hope everyone had a good week and rolled into a relaxing weekend. I just wanted to pop in and let you know what was on my mind and what is coming down the pipeline.
So, I have been working on tons of potential content for the page. I am like Russell Crowe in A Beautiful Mind. Just dissecting and analyzing the world around me. With me it’s more of a dissecting and analyzing my thoughts instead. Or I am like The Brain from Pinky and The Brain cartoon show. I always have a new idea on how I am going to take over the world. Or at least how I am going to have this blog take the world by storm. So, we all have our endgames. Brain’s is just a little more nefarious than mine is. Hey, to each his own.
Now, with that rant done what’s coming down the pipeline. I finally decided on what I was going to do my first weapons ID article on. Drum roll please. It will be on the M60 machine gun. When I was trying to pick a weapon that I wanted to start weapon ID series with I didn’t know where to start. Like do I start with an AK-47? Nah, too obvious. Do, I go Platoon or Hamburger Hill route and talk about the M-16. Both great movies. Still being a basic bitch. Gotta dig deep Drew.
Then, I took a step back mentally and thought about what is a movie or scene that stands out to me. That’s when the idea light popped in my head. Rambo:First Blood Part Two. (We all know the first Rambo was the best of the series by far. That’s because it’s based off the book. Which is a good read if you haven’t read it. You should!) I just remember at the end of the movie after Rambo returns to the base looking for Murdock and he grabs the M60 E3 from the bird. Straps the belt around his arms and goes inside the compound. Yells for Murdock and and lays waste to the control room while he’s yelling. Priceless. So, that’s who I ended up choosing the M60 for the first weapons ID article. So, look for that article on the near horizon. Have to do my due diligence and research on the weapon.
Also, coming is a news article on the New MEU structure for the United States Marine Corps (MEU is short for Marine Expeditionary Unit). I think this is interesting because I took part in the 31st MEU back in 2013. Seeing the MEU structure change is interesting to me. For all those uninitiated. A MEU in its easiest terms is where infantry battalions, logistics, aviation, and other attachments go on Navy Ships and patrol the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans for a 7 month cycle. Along the way training with foreign military and personnel. After all the training is done getting some free time at the port city to explore the country that you’re in while getting shit face. Train hard. Party hard. That’s a MEU in a nutshell.
Finally, I will be doing another tales of an RSO. I am always encountering new and crazy stuff working at a machine gun range. So, it never fails for new content. I am just trying to find the story that has happened to me recently that has me like, “What the Fuck!”
Oh, I almost forgot. I am working on my first weapon impression before I do a review. I currently purchased a Glock 48. I am very happy with it so far and I will let you know my thoughts on the handgun so far. My impression series for firearms will be called 100 rounds in. So, be on the lookout for that also.
So, yeah that’s pretty much about it. That is what I have cooking in the cauldron when it comes to content for the moment. Thanks for reading.
