Over the past weekend Oklahoma’s constitutional carry law HB 2597 went into effect. The law was signed by Governor Kevin Stitt back in February of this year. Oklahoma becomes the 16th State in the Union to allow constitutional carry in their state.
Over the past weekend Oklahoma’s constitutional carry law HB 2597 went into effect. The law was signed by Governor Kevin Stitt back in February of this year. Oklahoma becomes the 16th State in the Union to allow constitutional carry in their state.
Oklahoma’s constitutional carry allows over adults over the age of 21 to carry a concealed firearm without the need of a government permit. Obviously, anyone with felony convictions or domestic violence convictions are still prohibited from owning or concealing firearms. Constitutional carry users are still prohibited from carrying in public buildings, schools, bars, casinos, and at sporting events.
In section six of the bill is where it upgrades the carry ability of its citizens. In section six of HB2597 it states:
6. The carrying of a firearm, concealed or unconcealed, loaded or unloaded, by a person who is twenty-one (21) years of age or older or by a person who is eighteen (18) years of age but not yet twenty-one (21) years of age and the person is a member or veteran of the United States Armed Forces, Reserves or National Guard or was discharged under honorable conditions from the United States Armed Forces, Reserves or National Guard, and the person is otherwise not disqualified from the possession or purchase of a firearm under state or federal law and is not carrying the firearm in furtherance of a crime.

Back in February Governor Stitt left a message on Facebook page about the signing of HB 2597 which gives Oklahoma’s citizen the right to conceal carry.

Today I signed HB 2597 into law. Oklahomans are strong supporters of the Second Amendment, and they made their voice known as I traveled across all 77 counties last year. I would like to thank Representative Jon Echols and Senator Kim David for championing this piece of legislation and for finding balance for both private property owners and our Second Amendment rights.
As, stated before Oklahoma becomes the 16th State in the Union to allow for constitutional carry. Further protecting its citizens rights to keep and bear arms.

I was deployed twice during my time in. I did one deployment to Afghanistan and my second was on apart of 31st MEU. I departed the military in September of 2015. I currently work as an RSO at a local range in Vegas.
