Palmetto State Armory Releases H&R 606 Vietnam-Era Colt Clone

Palmetto State Armory (PSA) continues expanding its retro rifle lineup through its Harrington & Richardson division with the release of the new H&R 606 rifle, a clone inspired by the experimental Vietnam-era Colt 606 platform.

Over the years, H&R has built a strong reputation for recreating iconic M16 variants such as the XM177 series as faithfully as possible with modern technology and products. Now, the company has shifted its attention toward one of the more obscure and interesting early M16 support weapon concepts ever developed.

The original Colt 606 was an early attempt at adapting the M16 platform into a squad automatic weapon-style role during the Vietnam era. While it never saw widespread adoption, the rifle has become a fascinating piece of M16 development history among collectors and retro rifle enthusiasts.

H&R’s modern recreation stays faithful to that original concept.

The rifle features a 20-inch HBAR barrel paired with a classic three-prong flash hider, M16A1 triangular handguards, M2-style bipod, and traditional M16A1-era furniture. The upper receiver utilizes the classic slick-side design without feed ramps, while the lower receiver features partial-fence M16 markings to further preserve the retro aesthetic. Below is the product description on the H&R 606 from PSA’s website.

Pricing & Availability

The H&R 606 is another strong addition to PSA’s growing retro lineup and will likely appeal heavily to Vietnam-era clone builders and collectors looking for something outside the usual XM177 or M16A1 configurations. It is a niche rifle rooted in a very specific period of firearms development history, but that is exactly what makes projects like this interesting. The H&R 606 is available now and retails for $1,249 MSRP.
