Yesterday, Ruger announced the introduction of their latest pistol with a concealed carry focus—the Ruger LCP MAX. The LCP MAX is a change of pace from the litany of 9mm micro-compact pistol being released. The new LCP MAX is chambered in .380 auto featuring a double stack magazine which can hold 10 rounds. Holding an additional 4 rounds. The LCP MAX is an evolution of Ruger’s LCP II with a few improvements versus its predecessor. Let’s explore those improvements on Ruger’s new micro-subcompact pistol.
Ruger has added some enhancements to the LCP MAX from the LCP II both externally and internally. Externally, the LCP Max features: increased magazine capacity, improved slide serrations, and tritium front sight with a U-shape rear sight. Internally, the MAX has upgraded the feed ramp, extractor, barrel cam geometries, and the inclusion of reversible magazine release.
The Ruger LCP MAX will already have a good start on aftermarket infrastructure. According to Ruger the LCP MAX will be able to fit Bodyguard pattern iron sights and use existing LCP II holsters.
