James Gunn has officially shut down rumors circulating online and on social media about a new Batman game set within the universe of Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
The rumors began when speculation arose about a potential Batman spinoff game set in Matt Reeves’ The Batman crime drama universe, inspired by the 2022 blockbuster film from Warner Bros. The rumors were fueled by a report from Puck News, which claimed that Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment was developing a new Batman game in some capacity. The report provided no specific details about the game’s plot or design but suggested that the game would be “seeded in the 2022 The Batman movie.” When a Threads user asked Gunn to clarify these rumors, the DC Studios head quickly quashed any hopes, stating, “Sadly there is no truth to this whatsoever.”
