GTA 6 Remains on Track for Fall 2025 Release, Confirms Take-Two CEO
Despite rampant speculation and industry-wide anticipation, Grand Theft Auto 6 remains firmly set for its Fall 2025 release, according to Take-Two Interactive. The publisher reaffirmed this timeline in its latest financial report, dispelling fears of a potential delay—at least for now.
Take-Two CEO: “We Feel Really Good About It”
During an interview with IGN ahead of the company’s third-quarter financial results, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick acknowledged the ever-present risk of delays but expressed confidence in Rockstar’s ability to hit the target.
“Look, there’s always a risk of slippage, and I think as soon as you say words like ‘absolutely,’ you jinx things,” Zelnick said. “So we feel really good about it.”
While he remained tight-lipped on specific development details, Zelnick emphasized Rockstar’s pursuit of perfection, adding that the team remains “super excited” while keeping a watchful eye on the competition.
The Industry Watches and Waits

The release of GTA 6 is shaping up to be one of the biggest entertainment events of the decade, with rival publishers closely monitoring its launch. EA CEO Andrew Wilson recently hinted at potential scheduling adjustments for Battlefield to avoid clashing with Rockstar’s juggernaut.
However, while the release window remains unchanged, fans are still waiting for a second trailer. Over a year has passed since the record-breaking debut of GTA 6’s first trailer, leading to widespread speculation about when Rockstar will drop the next big reveal.
Rockstar’s Continued Success
Beyond GTA 6, Take-Two’s latest report highlighted the ongoing success of Grand Theft Auto 5, which has now sold over 210 million copies worldwide. Meanwhile, Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to thrive, surpassing 70 million units sold while achieving record concurrent player numbers on Steam.
Take-Two’s 2025 lineup is stacked, with Civilization 7, PGA Tour 2K25, and WWE 2K25 arriving in the first half of the year, followed by Mafia: The Old Country in the summer and GTA 6 in the fall. Gearbox’s Borderlands 4 is also set to close out the year.
A Pivotal Year for Take-Two
The publisher remains bullish on its future, stating: “We are exceedingly optimistic about the commercial potential of our titles and believe that they will have a transformative effect on our business – and our industry – over the long term.”
Looking ahead, Take-Two is confident in setting new financial milestones in fiscal 2026 and 2027, largely fueled by GTA 6’s monumental launch. Until then, all eyes remain on Rockstar as the industry awaits its next move.
