Banish Introduces the 3-D Printed Banish 556 Suppressor

Banish Suppressors has unveiled the Banish 556, the company’s first additively manufactured suppressor. Designed as a dedicated, hard-use 5.56 suppressor, the Banish 556 reflects a shift toward modern manufacturing methods and materials aimed at durability, heat management, and consistent performance under heavy sustained firing conditions.

The Banish 556 is a full-auto-rated, flow-through suppressor intended for aggressive firing schedules. To achieve the internal complexity required for hard use suppressor, Banish turned to Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS), a manufacturing process that allows for intricate internal geometries that would be difficult or impossible to produce using traditional machining. This approach enables more precise control over baffle structure, gas flow paths, and material distribution, all of which contribute to structural consistency and long-term durability.

Materials: Inconel Core and Stainless Blast Chamber

At the core of the suppressor is a high-grade Inconel core, chosen for its exceptional strength and resistance to heat. Inconel’s ability to maintain structural integrity under extreme thermal loads makes it particularly well suited for suppressors subjected to intense firing cycles, where material creep and deformation can become limiting factors. The blast chamber, where heat and pressure are most intense, is constructed from stainless steel and reinforced with a strengthened muzzle cap to further support longevity during high-volume fire.

In terms of sound performance, the Banish 556 averages 132.4 dB on a 16-inch rifle and 137 dB on a 10.5-inch SBR. For context, an unsuppressed AR-15 typically registers between 160 and 170 dB. Based on those reference levels, the Banish 556 provides an estimated 23–38 dB reduction, depending on barrel length and baseline conditions. This reduction does not make the rifle hearing safe, but it significantly reduces blast and concussion, aided by the suppressor’s flow-through gas management.

Despite its focus on durability, the Banish 556 remains compact. It measures 6.3 inches in length, 1.65 inches in diameter, and weighs 15.6 ounces. The suppressor utilizes an industry-standard HUB mounting interface and includes a 1/2×28 direct-thread mount, allowing compatibility with a wide range of existing mounting solutions. Finish options include Black and FDE Cerakote, and the suppressor is backed by a lifetime warranty.

Availability and Pricing

The Banish 556 is available now with an MSRP of $1,129. Additional information and specifications can be found on Banish Suppressors’ website.
