Primary Arms Releases Compact PLx 1.5-12×36 FFP Scope Featuring ACSS Raptor and Griffin Reticles

For the last few years, the optics market has largely been a cycle of incremental upgrades and familiar designs. While Primary Arms Optics has continued expanding its catalog, there hasn’t been a release that truly felt like it pushed the conversation forward until now. Primary Arms is introducing the new compact PLx 1.5-12×36 FFP MPVO (Medium Power Variable Optic), a compact optic built around premium Japanese glass, Red Dot Bright reticle technology, and two ACSS reticle options: Griffin and Raptor.

This scope is part of the top tier optics line called PLx. PLx optics meet the exacting demands of professional use, offering impeccable glass clarity and advanced features from state-of-the-art production facilities.

Built in Japan around top-tier ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) glass, the PLxC® 1.5-12×36 FFP RDB Rifle Scope delivers an exceptionally flat, bright image with edge-to-edge clarity and excellent color fidelity. The versatile 1.5-12x magnification range lets you run the rifle fast up close, then roll the power up for precise shots at distance, giving you one optic that can realistically cover everything from close-quarters work to long-range marksmanship.

Optically, this scope is designed to punch far above its weight. The 36mm objective and fully multi-coated ED glass work together to reduce chromatic aberration, maximize light transmission, and maintain a forgiving eye box throughout the zoom range, so you’re not fighting the scope in awkward positions or low light. Despite that performance, the PLxC remains impressively compact—about 9.75 inches long and just 19.7 ounces—with a wide, immersive field of view that keeps you aware of your surroundings as you track and engage targets.

The body is built for hard use and has been rigorously tested to survive extreme environments, heavy recoil, and shock from drops and abuse. The short 30mm tube provides ample internal adjustment (100 MOA elevation, 50 MOA windage), while user-configurable turrets let you choose between a capped or exposed elevation setup. The illumination dial features AutoLive® motion-sensing illumination conserves battery life by powering the reticle down at rest and waking it the moment the rifle moves.

For your reticle, this scope features the ACSS Raptor 5.56 Yard G2 system. Calibrated for 5.56, .308, and similar cartridges, the ACSS Raptor G2 reticle combines an effective BDC design with a true Red Dot Bright® horseshoe and chevron. This reticle offers full vertical and horizontal ranging stadia, as well as moving target leads and wind holds. For delivering quick reads and hits across varied distances, the Raptor is a proven performer and intuitive to use.

Like all PLx optics, the 1.5-12×36 FFP RDB is backed by Primary Arms’ Lifetime Warranty, covering defects and even normal wear and tear, so you can run it hard with confidence that the company stands behind every shot you take.

The PLx 1.5-12×36 enters an evloving MPVO market, this optic blurs the line between LPVO and MPVO by not being a true medium magnified optic. On paper, the PLxC checks many of those boxes by combining compact dimensions, lightweight construction, premium Japanese glass, and a versatile magnification range into one package.

The real question will be whether the optic can balance speed, durability, and optical performance as effectively as Primary Arms claims. If the PLx 1.5-12×36 delivers in real-world use, it could become one of the more compelling MPVO options currently available for modern general-purpose rifle builds.

The Primary Arms PLx 1.5-12×36 MPVO is available now and retails for $1,999 MSRP.
