A Quick Look at PSA’s New Sabre 5.56 AK
Palmetto State Armory (PSA) continues to diversify the Sabre series of rifles and pistols. Since the release of the Sabre AK in September 2025, the AK lineup has remained relatively quiet.
Now, PSA is expanding the Sabre AK into a new caliber and platform with the introduction of the Sabre 5.56 AK.
What We Need to Know
- The Sabre 5.56 AK utilizes a Polish parts kit featuring a dimpled receiver, bolt, trunnion, dust cover, and rear sight assembly.
- PSA manufactures a cold hammer-forged barrel with a Plan B muzzle device.
- The rifle features Soviet Arms M-LOK handguards and a railed gas tube, along with B5 furniture consisting of a buttstock and pistol grip.
- An ALG AK trigger with a Lightning Bow trigger shoe is included.
- PSA finished the Sabre receiver and barrel in OD Green Cerakote, while the Soviet Arms handguard and railed gas tube are finished in Burnt Bronze.

The Bottom Line
PSA continues to grow and expand its Sabre AK series with the new 5.56 AK model.
The question now is whether the Sabre AK will receive short-barreled rifle (SBR) variants of these builds. Another question is whether PSA will be able to accommodate the demand for 5.56 AK magazines, both for this rifle and for the broader market of shooters looking for them.
That may be the bigger question, and only time will tell.
Given the potential constraints surrounding 5.56 AK magazines, it would be prudent for PSA to include at least two magazines with the rifle.
