EA and Ghost Games are taking another crack at finding that Need for Speed magic with a reveal coming this week. If you check out the official Need for Speed website it now sports a countdown timer for the reveal.
It’s been two years since we had the last Need For Speed game in 2017. Need for Speed Payback, which garnered mixed reviews at best. Need for Speed Payback has a Metascore of 61 and a User Score of 4.1 on Metacritic. The last few iterations have had good qualities to them but, lack the design and feel of a classic Need for Speed game of the past.
EA and Ghost Games are taking another crack at finding that Need for Speed magic with a reveal coming this week. If you check out the official Need for Speed website it now sports a countdown timer for the reveal. Ghost Games will be revealing news on Wednesday about the new NFS game. So, to all those racing fans out their make sure you are tuned in.
This reveal by Ghost Games is taking place before Gamescom 2019. So, it’s safe to assume that we will learn more at Gamescom and that this might be a centerpiece title for EA at the event. Before E3, Ghost Games shared their thoughts on Reddit about the future of Need for Speed and what to expect.
Here is a little snippet from that Reddit post.
“While we’ve had some great memories over those twenty-five years, we’re not here to look back and reminisce. We’ve got our eyes set firmly on the future. But even while focusing on the future – especially this year – we’ve also thought a lot about what NFS means to you, and perhaps more importantly what we hope it will mean as we move forward.
Cars naturally top the list. You could say that the cars and customization of NFS are the beating heart of what we do. Without either of these, NFS fails to exist as we know it. These two elements play a pivotal role in the series and are two aspects that we consider to be foundational, meaning they aren’t going anywhere because NFS wouldn’t exist without them.”
What do you think the contents of the reveal? A gameplay trailer, story trailer, or cinematic trailer?
