About three weeks ago YouTuber TheGamingRevolution twitted about potential supply drops being brought to the new Modern Warfare game. In the tweet he informs fans that over 300 emotes, 200 skins, and 500 titles will be within the supply drops (aka loot boxes). Later down the road weapons would be in those supply drops.
About three weeks ago Youtuber TheGamingRevolution twitted about potential supply drops being brought to the new Modern Warfare game. In the tweet he informs his followers that over 300 emotes, 200 skins, and 500 titles will be within the supply drops (aka loot boxes). Later down the road weapons would be in those supply drops also.
Below is the twitter post from TheGamingRevolution.
When, rumors of supply drops hit the masses their was disappointment and backlash from the gaming community. Infinity Ward has been building a COD that has reinvigorated long time COD fans. On the Call of Duty subreddit fan back lash was instant. The tone of the subreddit went from a positive general tone to a negative one. Art Director Joel Emslie provided a post in an attempt to claim worries. In the post Emslie, was indirectly critical of TheGamingRevolution supply drop information stating, “ill informed people that want to make a name for themselves.” Insinuating that the YouTuber had been working on bad information from the start. TheGamingRevolution reply was his reliability on previous gaming leaks in the past that have been proven correct. Also, how Infinity Ward said nothing when leaking positive information on Modern Warfare.
Now, fast forward three weeks and we have the official word from Infinity Ward on supply drops. The new Modern Warfare will not have supply drops in multiplayer.
On Monday, Emslie (on as artpeasant on reddit) posted on the Modern Warfare subreddit about supply drop rumors. Within the subreddit post by Emslie he states, “Sigh. There continues to be misinformed and incorrect info being pushed about Modern Warfare. What I can say right now is that we are definitely NOT working on any kind of supply drop or loot box system. Also, functional stuff is unlocked through GAMEPLAY. Stay tuned, we’re planning to release info this week.”
So, according to Emslie reddit post Modern Warfare will have no supply drops. All “functional stuff” can be earned through gameplay. (I don’t know what “functional stuff” means but, okay.) Also, later this week we should be getting some more information about the game from developers.
This information from Emslie is great news for concerned fans. At the same time Sledgehammer Games stated it would be no loot boxes in COD: Black Ops 4. Then, about 4 months later they were implemented without warning. So, we have to be cautiously optimistic that Modern Warfare will not have supply drops (aka loot boxes).
What do you think of the news of no supply drops? Do you think Infinity Ward might sneak them in later? Let me know in the comments below.
