Roam is a firearms manufacturer who specializes in making upper and lower receivers with magnesium alloy vs 6061 aluminum. The company is known for making lightweight AR-10 platform rifles. Roam proclaims that magnesium alloy offers superior strength to aluminum while also possessing the property of being lightweight. The company currently manufactures a R-10 Red River Ultralight rifle that weighs in at amazing 5.48 lbs oz. The Red River is chambered in .308 WIN with a 16” barrel. Recently, the company has released their new ROAM R-10 lower receivers to compliment the uppers that were released earlier this year.

The ROAM R-10 lower receivers are CNC machined from magnesium alloy. They are compatible with DPMS GEN1 components and SR-25/LR-308 magazines. The lowers receive a Ceratoke finish of your choosing. The Cerakote colors available are: black, FDE, and tungsten. The overall weight of the R-10 is a mere 7.3 oz. According to Roam that 7.3oz makes it the lightest production AR-10 lower on market. These lowers also feature an upper receiver tensioning screw and a screw for retaining the bolt catch.

The new ROAM R-10 will retail at $300 MSRP. Which keeps it right in line with the current market. On their website the company has a page dedicated to explain the advantages of magnesium alloy based receivers versus traditional aluminum.
