CMMG is proud to announce a new line of Personal Defense Weapons (PDW) that will be known as Dissent. CMMG’s new PDWs will be utilizing the company’s patent pending Compact Action. This Compact Action contains all the moving parts to the upper receiver. Eliminating the need for a buffer and a buffer tube assembly. The new Dissent PDW is the shortest, most storable Personal Defense Weapon that CMMG has built to date.
The new Dissent internal design will be reminiscent of Eugene Stoner’s AR-180. The Dissent PDWs feature a shorter (stocky) bolt carrier, a pair of recoil springs, and guide rod above the Bolt Carrier Group or BCG. As, stated before this allows the operation of the firearm to be conducted within the upper receiver. (See gif below). The Dissent is still utilizing a traditional Direct Impingement gas system. Where the AR-180 uses a short stroke piston gas system. The lack of a buffer or buffer tube assembly, CMMG has placed a Picatinny rail section for a stock/brace mounting solution for the Dissent series. The Dissent also features a left-side non-reciprocating charging handle with M-Lok handguards. Consumers can also purchase a right-side charging handle for left handed shooters.
The new CMMG Dissent upper and lower receivers comes with a Cerakote finish one of four colors: Armor Black, Charcoal Green, Coyote Tan, Midnight Bronze, Sniper Grey and Titanium. The Dissent upper receiver is compatible with mil-spec lower receivers.
The Dissent PDW features a 6.5” barrel with a CMMG Zeroed Linear Compensator, TriggerTech AR-D 2-Stage Trigger, an SLR adjustable gas block, and M-Lok handguards. CMMG and TriggerTech collaborated on the AR-D creating a trigger with a 4 lb trigger pull. The Dissent is a versatile and compact firearm with an overall length of 14.7” and weighing in at 4.6 lbs. Allowing you to carry, store, and deploy it in various situations.
The new Dissent is currently available now for preorder. The Dissent is currently chambered in these three calibers: 5.56/.223, .300 Blackout, and 5.7x28mm. The CMMG Dissent will retail for $1999 MSRP. For more on the Dissent and other CMMG products, click here.
