A few years back Brownells imported true HK 416/417 parts directly from Heckler & Koch in Germany. Those parts dried up quickly on Brownell’s website but, the demand for the popular platform did not. After years of anguish and a bone-dry market, Brownells has answered the call. Recently, Brownells announced their new HK416 upper receiver clone kit with the new BRN-4. The new BRN-4 upper receiver from Brownells is compatible with standard AR-15 lowers.

The HK416 has been used by military and law enforcement agencies around the world. The HK416 popularity has reached the U.S. Military. The German-born rifle is currently the service rifle for USMC Infantry and is known as the M27. The closest proximity to a clone correct model of the HK416 was the MR556 but, it had some key differences that the clone community wasn’t fans of.

The new BRN-4 is compatible with HK416 parts and has the quad rail that is seen on the M27. The upper receiver parts are sold separately on Brownells’ website if a builder already has some parts and needs to finish their HK416 build. The upper kits from Brownells are available now and feature a 14.5” or 16” barrel by Faxon Firearms. A 10.4” barrel is also available but is not sold as a kit.

Below is the product description from Brownells on their new BRN-4 upper receiver kit.

An Affordable Way To Own a Legend!

The HK416 is perhaps the most successful adaptation of the AR-5 platform for piston operation. Long coveted by AR-15 collectors, these guns have been scarce and prohibitively expensive in the U.S. Now, folks who want to experience 416 performance first-hand have a truly affordable alternative, thanks to our new HK416-compatible BRN-4 Piston Upper Receiver Kit!

The kit contains all the parts needed to assemble a complete upper, including an original Heckler & Koch® HK416 stripped receiver and handguard. The rest of the HK416-compatible BRN-4 parts are new-manufactured for Brownells: bolt-carrier group with tough Nitride finish, gas piston, operating rod, gas block (and pins), barrel nut, and handguard retaining screw.

You can get your BRN-4 kit with a 14.5″ or 16″ barrel. Manufactured for Brownells by Faxon, the medium-contour, 5.56 NATO chambered BRN-4 barrel is slimmer than the original HK416 barrels to keep weight down and help you build a well-balanced rifle.

The BRN-4 upper kit is available now on the Brownells website. As of today, the complete kits are not in stock. The kits retail for $1,499 MSRP. If you are interested you can individually piece the upper receiver together but, parts are selling out quickly.
