It’s been over five years since we have seen the Transformers universe on the big screen and that changes in the summer of 2023. Today, we received the first official trailer for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. This trailer introduces the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons to the existing battle between Autobots and Decepticons.
Beast Wars is one of the most successful franchises within the Transformers Universe. Transformers: Beast Wars is 300 years after the events of the original Transformers series. The series features the Maximals and Predacons, descendants of the Autobots and Decepticons. While engaged in battle, teams of each faction are transported through a time/space portal and crash land on a mysterious planet in prehistoric times. While trying to find a way home their war rages on between the factions. Beast Wars ran from 1996-1999 and was a hit for Hasbro.
The new Rise of the Beasts is set to introduce the Maximals and Predacons to the universe whose alternate forms are based on animals from Earth. The Transformers movies have touched on the idea of Autobots and Decepticons turning into organic beings. Yet, Optimus Prime is in utter shock when he meets Optimus Primal in the new trailer.
It is unclear from the trailer if the movie discusses the time/space paradox of the Maximals and Predacons in modern times. Or how these massive sentient robots hid in place sight for thousands of years. In the trailer we do see classic Transformers from Breast Wars such as Airazor, Cheetor, Rhinox, and Prime as they battle against the forces of the Decepticons and Predacons. Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts hits theaters on June 9th, 2023.
