San Diego Comic-Con Erupts As Robert Downey Jr. Returns To The MCU As Dr. Doom!

Late on Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con, a monumental revelation left Marvel fans in shock and awe: Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the MCU, not as Tony Stark, but as Dr. Doom!
The crowd’s response to this reveal was of epic proportions. Thunderous and enthusiastic cheers erupted at the sight of Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU. Following the initial excitement, there was a mix of confusion and curiosity over this unexpected choice, leaving many Marvel fans trying to wrap their heads around the idea.
The addition of Dr. Doom to the MCU is a gigantic deal and should be handled with care. Dr. Doom is arguably Marvel’s biggest and most important villain, equivalent to Lex Luthor in the DC Universe. Handling his first big-screen appearance is critical. Yet, why is Downey playing Dr. Doom? Is this Doom an evil variant of Tony Stark? We don’t quite know yet how this story will develop.

It is important to remember that Victor Von Doom and Tony Stark have a longstanding, complicated, and contentious relationship. Throughout their history, these characters have frequently clashed. We can only hypothesize what this might mean for Avengers: Doomsday, but it would only be educated guesses.
As fans grapple with the excitement and confusion of RDJ’s return and our first on-screen iteration of Dr. Doom, we must wait patiently to see if this idea soars or crashes and burns. Only time will tell.
