Early Tuesday morning around 6 am a team of FBI agents were executing a federal search warrant in Miami, Fl. In the execution of that warrant, a firefight broke out leaving two FBI agents killed and three wounded. The suspect who the search warrant was being served to was killed during the engagement.

The suspect in question was being investigated as part of a violent crimes against children case. When being served by the agents the suspect barricaded themselves inside of the Water Terrace Apartments in Sunrise. The three wounded agents were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition.

The Sunrise Police Department advised the public to start away from this area and residents to remain in their homes. The scene was declared safe at 9am EST.

It is rare that FBI agents are caught in firefights like this when serving a warrant. The circumstances that lead to the shooting are unclear and the deceased agent’s names are not available at this time.

The FBI is reviewing an agent-involved shooting which occurred this morning at approximately 6 a.m. in the vicinity of 10100 Reflections Boulevard, Sunrise, Florida. A team of law enforcement officers were there to execute a federal court-ordered search warrant in furtherance of a violent crimes against children case.

Two FBI agents are deceased and three are wounded. Two wounded agents were transported to hospital and are in stable condition. The names of the deceased will not be released at this time.

The subject is deceased.

In accordance with FBI policy, the shooting incident is under investigation by the FBI’s Inspection Division. The review process is thorough and objective and is conducted as expeditiously as possible under the circumstances. Because this is an ongoing investigation, no further information will be released at this time.
