Brownells is the country’s largest online retailer for firearms, firearm parts, accessories, ammunition, gunsmithing tools, and survival gear. Over the years, the company has successfully launched its Retro Series of M-16 clone correct rifles, the BRN-180 series, and Glock Gen 3 clones and parts. Now, Brownells is proud to expand its growing BRN brand with the BRN-15 upper receivers. The new uppers are chambered in 5.56 NATO and are available in three different barrel length options— 16”, 13.7”, and 11.5” inches. Let’s take a closer look at these new AR-15 uppers from Brownells.
The BRN-15 uppers are made from 7075-T6 aluminum forgings and have a hard coat anodized finish. The 4150 CMV barrels are nitrided, feature a 1:7 twist rate, and come with an A2 flash hider. The barrel extension and upper receivers have M4 pattern feed ramps for increased reliability of feeding ammunition. The 16” uppers can be ordered with a Government profile barrel or a lightweight contour barrel. The Government barrels will feature a .750-diameter gas block or a .625-diameter gas block, depending on your chosen barrel profile. The 13.7” and 11.5” upper receivers will only be available in a Government profile barrel. All versions of the BRN-15 receivers will feature free-float M-LOK handguards. The new uppers from Brownells are available with or without BCGs and charging handles. They are allowing consumers to tailor their experience to their various needs.
Below is the product description for the BRN-15 from Brownells’ website.
Product Description
Manufactured in the US with the highest quality components, the BRN-15 Upper Receiver Groups are great starts for your next build. Pick your preferred bolt carrier group and charging handle to complete.
The BRN-15 Upper Receiver Groups feature a 5.56x45mm NATO chambered, nitride-finished barrel, available in several popular lengths. Models are available in a Government, medium profile barrel, with the 16-inch also available in a lightweight contour. Barrels feature a gas block dimple that the rear gas block screw securely engages. All barrels are stress-relieved.
Unique MLOK handguard extends past the gas block to provide as much usable real estate as possible. Anti-rotation tabs at the rear of the handguard engage the upper receiver, preventing any cant in relation to the receiver picatinny rail. Large dual screws clamp and pass through the properly torqued barrel nut to ensure the handguard will not slip forward. Large vents are placed towards the rear to allow both the barrel and handguard to cool more rapidly.
Forged Mil-Spec type upper receiver features M4 feed ramps, ejection port cover and forward assist. Forward assist pin is knurled at the front, to ease future swaps.
