Two years ago, the world was introduced to the Atlas Ares, an EDC offering from Atlas Gunworks. The Ares featured meticulous design, careful construction, with an unparalleled level of craftsmanship. It embodied the spirit of the Ares himself and became an EDC juggernaut for the company. Atlas has gleaned knowledge and lessons from the Ares to design the next evolution in their EDC lineup. Atlas Gunworks is proud to introduce the EOS pistol.

The EOS was developed as a steel frame variant of the popular 4.25-inch Ares and was initially engineered for shooters less concerned about weight than longevity. In the early development phases, the Atlas engineering team realized that the additional six ounces from the steel frame made very little difference for concealed carry but a significant difference in how it shot. The added weight, combined with the porting from the Ares, turned the EOS into a monster of a handgun.

The EOS features deep front and rear slide serrations. Housed within the slide is a 4.25-inch ported bull barrel, allowing the EOS to shoot flatter and smoother. The slide also comes optics-ready with a plate system and a blacked-out rear sight with a fiber optic front. The EOS includes an aluminum frame with aggressive texturing to help lock in your grip, along with an ambidextrous safety for left or right-handed shooters. The trigger is a lightweight 3 lbs trigger with a clean, crisp break and a filthy reset.

Like all Atlas pistols, the EOS has earned the vaunted title of a Perfect Zero pistol. Perfect Zero is the concept that the gun fires, lifts, and returns to the same spot on the target without any outside forces by the shooter. This is possible when the shooter adheres to the fundamentals of marksmanship, including proper sight alignment, sight picture, grip, and trigger control. If the fundamentals are applied correctly, the EOS should fall right back on target, achieving Perfect Zero with iron sights or a red dot.

The EOS represents the next evolutionary step of the Ares, offering a more refined and focused EDC pistol build from Atlas. It adds to the growing and stellar lineup of EDC-focused pistols from Atlas. I look forward to getting my hands on one and testing and evaluating EOS and seeing how it stacks up against the powerful Ares.

The EOS will be available in the second quarter of this year and will retail for $6,600 MSRP. While it’s a hefty price point for some, it’s well worth its price of entry if you have the funds to purchase one.
