Modlite Systems Introduces the OKW V2

Modlite Systems has announced the next evolution of its flagship OKW light head with the introduction of the OKW V2. The original OKW established itself as an industry benchmark for lumens, candela, performance, and long-range beam intensity. With the V2, Modlite is pushing that performance envelope even further.

Construction and Materials

The OKW V2 is constructed from T-6061 series aluminum and  finished in a Mil-Spec hard anodizing for durability under hard use. Up front, Modlite utilizes a Borofloat lens engineered for 98–99% of light transmittance from the V2 during activation.

Borofloat glass, produced through a microfloat process, offers high thermal resistance, strong mechanical durability, and excellent chemical resilience while maintaining exceptional clarity. These characteristics make it particularly well suited for a weapon light application, where rapid temperature changes occur during activation and sustained runtime. The result is optimized light transmission without sacrificing durability.

Performance Gains

Modlite states the OKW V2 delivers approximately 30% more candela and nearly double the lumen output compared to the original OKW head.

The single-output version produces:

• 1,300 lumens

• 95,000 candela

The dual-output configuration offers:

• High mode (full output)

• Admin mode (low-output setting for administrative tasks)

Power options remain flexible, with compatibility for 18350, 18650, or two CR123 batteries.

Runtime Estimates

With an 18650 battery:

• 75 minutes on High

• 10.6 hours on Admin

With an 18350 battery:

• 35 minutes on High

• 3.6 hours on Admin

Importantly, the OKW V2 remains fully compatible with Modlite’s existing light bodies, making it a direct plug-and-play upgrade for users already invested in the Modlite ecosystem.

Conclusion

The OKW V2 represents a meaningful refinement of an already proven platform. Increased candela, significantly improved lumen output, premium lens construction, and full backward compatibility make it a compelling upgrade for professional end users and enthusiasts alike. For those running legacy OKW heads, the V2 offers measurable performance gains without requiring a complete system overhaul.

The OKW V2 is currently available through Modlite Systems with an MSRP of $209.99. Currently only the Single Output version is available in black due to the Dual option being sold out at the time of writing this article.
