Triarc Systems Releases G-MOD Rifle Build Paying Tribute to the Legendary Gordy Rifle

Triarc Systems appears to be steadily rebuilding its reputation within the firearms industry after a difficult stretch over the last few years. The Mansfield, Texas-based manufacturer has largely kept a lower profile, returning to fundamentals and focusing on producing quality rifles instead of chasing hype cycles. Now, the company is beginning to reemerge with new projects: one of the latest being the G-MOD Retro Rifle.

The new G-MOD takes direct inspiration from the legendary “Gordy” rifle carried by Medal of Honor recipient MSG Gary Gordon during the Battle of Mogadishu in 1993, later immortalized in the movie Black Hawk Down. The original Gordy build became one of the example of what top-tier warfighters used during that time period.

The original Gordy rifle featured a 14.5-inch barrel setup paired with an A-post front sight/gas block, ribbed CAR-style handguards, an Aimpoint 3000 optic, and a SureFire 660 weapon light. Combined with its suppressor setup and Colt A2 lower, the rifle developed near-mythical status among enthusiasts of retro carbines and modern military history.

Rather than simply clone the rifle part-for-part, TRIARC refined the concept using modern manufacturing techniques and upgraded materials while still preserving the spirit of the original build.

The G-MOD features a forged A1 fixed carry handle upper receiver, NP3-coated bolt carrier group and barrel extension, a custom 12-inch TRACK 2.0 barrel, and compatibility with over-the-barrel suppressors.

The G-MOD Rifle is inspired by the Iconic Gordy Rifle which was a highly custom Short Barrel Rifle used by Master Sargent Garry Gordon during the Battle of Mogadishu in 1993, It was an early example of the Modern fighting rifle. Our inspired G-MOD rifle combines both features of the original spec that made it effective and enhanced TRIARC features to increase efficiency, such as :

  • Forged A1 Fixed Carrying Handle Upper receiver ( Serial Number Matched to lower receiver )
  • NP3 Coated BCG
  • NP3 Coated Barrel extension
  • Custom 12” TRACK 2.0 Barrel with CNC Machined Pinned Mil Spec Front Site Base ( Bayonet Lug and Sling mount removed to allow clearance for suppressor mount ), Otter Creek Labs over the barrel flash hider mount ( for use with AEM5 and OCM5 reflex style suppressors ) and reduced gas port size suppressed only. This Rifle is capable of SUB-MOA accuracy with match grade ammunition.
  • Cerakote finish over Anodize Upper and Lower

A reflex suppressor, also known as an “Over the Barrel” (OTB) suppressor, is a type of suppressor that mounts over a portion of the barrel rather than just the end of the muzzle. This design allows for more volume for gas expansion, potentially leading to greater sound suppression, without significantly increasing the overall length of the firearm.

Conclusion

Retro-inspired rifles continue to dominate interest within the firearms community, but the G-MOD feels like more than just another nostalgia build. Triarc is blending the DNA of one of the most iconic carbines in modern military history with contemporary coatings, tighter tolerances, and suppressor-focused engineering.

At an MSRP of $1,750, the G-MOD enters a competitive market filled with clone rifles and retro-inspired carbines. However, Triarc’s approach appears focused on delivering a refined interpretation of the Gordy rifle rather than simply replicating it. For enthusiasts of Black Hawk Down, military history, or retro-modern rifle builds, the G-MOD is one of the more interesting releases currently hitting the market.
