Craddock Precision Introduces the MK12 Reaper Upper in 6mm ARC
Craddock Precision is excited to introduce the new MK12 Reaper Upper Receiver chambered in 6mm ARC.
Originally introduced to the civilian market in 2020, 6mm ARC was developed in collaboration with the Department of Defense to deliver ballistic performance approaching .308 Winchester while remaining within the lighter and more compact AR-15 platform. Since then, the cartridge has steadily gained traction within federal and law enforcement circles, as well as among precision rifle shooters looking to push the capabilities of the AR-15 platform further at distance.
The appeal of 6mm ARC largely comes from its balance of external ballistics, comparable recoil impulse to 5.56, and magazine-fed compatibility within a standard AR-15. The cartridge offers flatter trajectories and improved long-range performance over traditional 5.56 while avoiding the weight and bulk penalties associated with larger AR-10 platforms.
However, the cartridge still faces a few hurdles before broader mainstream adoption. Reliable magazine compatibility has remained one of the most commonly discussed concerns surrounding 6mm ARC, alongside the need for broader ammunition support from manufacturers. Once those issues continue to improve, the cartridge will likely become even more attractive to shooters looking for a capable intermediate precision round.
Craddock Precision’s MK12 Reaper Upper leans heavily into the classic MK12 aesthetic while modernizing the platform around 6mm ARC. The upper is built around the iconic KAC FF RAS rail system and paired with an Allen Engineering collar kit for compatibility with over-the-barrel suppressor systems. At the heart of the setup is Craddock Precision’s RTR 18-inch 6mm ARC barrel designed to maximize the cartridge’s ballistic potential.
The upper also ships complete with a bolt carrier group and charging handle.
Final Thoughts
The MK12 Reaper Upper is an interesting blend of old-school MK12 styling and modern cartridge performance. While many companies continue chasing shorter and lighter rifle setups, Craddock Precision appears focused on refining the designated marksman rifle concept around the increasingly capable 6mm ARC platform.
For shooters already invested in the MK12 ecosystem or looking for a precision-oriented AR-15 setup with improved long-range capability over 5.56, the MK12 Reaper offers a compelling package.
The Craddock Precision MK12 Reaper Upper is available now and retails for $1,776.00 MSRP.
