FN Herstal Unveils the FN ARKA Ahead of Eurosatory 2026 in Paris
FN Herstal is proud to introduce the newest rifle in its lineup: the FN ARKA. Announced ahead of Eurosatory 2026 in Paris, the new platform is designed for military and law enforcement specifically in mind. Let’s take a closer look at FN’s latest rifle design.
The FN ARKA builds upon the foundation and legacy of the iconic SCAR platform while incorporating familiar design elements from the AR-15. Rather than replacing one system with another, FN has sought to combine the strengths of both platforms into a single rifle.
The ARKA retains the highly reliable short-stroke gas piston operating system that helped make the SCARs are known for while adopting the traditional architecture, ergonomics, and controls that shooters have come to expect from the AR-15 platform. The goal is simple: provide end users with the best aspects of two of the most influential rifle designs in modern firearms history.
Design Features

The FN ARKA incorporates several proven features from both the SCAR and AR-15 platforms.
Features Derived from the SCAR
- Monolithic upper receiver
- FN cold hammer-forged barrel
- Adjustable gas block
- Short-stroke gas piston operating system
Features Derived from the AR-15
- Forward assist
- Rear charging handle
- AR-style buttstock
- AR-style pistol grip
- Fully ambidextrous controls, including:
- Magazine release
- Bolt catch/release
Together, these elements have been combined through FN’s research and development efforts to create a platform that blends familiar handling characteristics with proven reliability.
Suppressor Ready
One of the most interesting aspects of the FN ARKA is its focus on suppressed performance.
The rifle utilizes FN’s proven short-stroke gas piston system, which has been further optimized for suppressor use. Historically, suppressing SCAR models would void your warranty coverage. With the ARKA, FN appears to be taking a different approach by developing a complete suppressor ecosystem alongside the rifle itself.
FN Herstal has designed dedicated flow-through suppressors specifically for the ARKA platform. By reducing backpressure, flow-through suppressors can help decrease gas exposure to the shooter, reduce felt recoil, and create a smoother shooting experience while maintaining reliability of the rifle.
Configurations

At launch, the FN ARKA will be offered in two primary configurations:
Standard Configuration
- 14.5-inch cold hammer-forged barrel
- Available with short or long handguard options
CQC Configuration
- 11.25-inch cold hammer-forged barrel
- Short handguard configuration
Both models will be available in Black and Flat Dark Earth (FDE) finishes.
Closing Thoughts
We will learn much more about the FN ARKA when FN Herstal officially debuts the rifle at Eurosatory 2026. Based on what has been revealed so far, the ARKA is an intriguing project that combines proven design elements from both the SCAR and AR-15 platforms into a single package.
The bigger questions remain unanswered. Military and law enforcement adoption will ultimately depend on performance, reliability, logistics, and pricing. If and when the ARKA reaches the civilian market, FN will also need to convince consumers why it deserves consideration alongside established offerings from companies such as Knight’s Armament Company, LMT, BCM, and Sons of Liberty Gun Works. Pricing will likely be one of the most critical factors in determining civilian adoption. Until then, the FN ARKA remains one of the more interesting rifle developments to watch heading into Eurosatory 2026.
