Bungie Is Bringing Destiny 2 Back and Expanding the Destiny Universe

Our voices were heard today as gamers.

We proved that our voices, our resistance, and our wallets still mean something to Sony and Bungie. This morning, Bungie released a video on its official YouTube channel featuring Studio Head Poria Torkan and Head of Product and General Manager Josh Deane, who outlined the studio’s plans to restore Destiny 2 and continue expanding the Destiny universe. 

In the video, Deane explained that Bungie intends to bring Destiny 2 back toward its original promise by restoring important pieces of the game’s history that were previously removed. Bungie says it is beginning the work of bringing vaulted campaigns, destinations, and raids back into the game for all Destiny 2 players. The studio is also acknowledging that removing this content had a lasting impact on player trust and enjoyment. 

Deane asks for players’ patience as Bungie works through this process, while Torkan and Deane acknowledge that the studio lost sight of what its players valued over the past several years. Only time will tell whether Bungie can follow through on these commitments and rebuild the trust it has lost with its community. 

Today feels like a big win for gamers. As gamers around the world, we refused to bend the knee. We fought to preserve a franchise and a universe that millions of players have enjoyed for more than a decade.
