In March 2024, Flux Defense introduced the original Universal Kompat holster, a low-profile, lightweight design intended to accommodate a variety of micro-compact pistols. Since its release, the company has continued refining the holster based on feedback from end users. Now, Flux Defense is bringing those improvements to market with the Gen 2 Universal Kompat IWB holster.

What We Need to Know

  • 40% Smaller Design: Flux Defense has reduced the footprint of the Gen 2 Kompat by 40% compared to its predecessor, further refining an already low-profile design.
  • Injection-Molded Construction: The original Kompat was 3D-printed, a production method that created challenges with manufacturing and delivery. Gen 2 switches to injection-molded construction, allowing for more consistent production and reduced manufacturing time.
  • Broad Pistol Compatibility: The Kompat uses a retention system designed around the Streamlight TLR-7 Sub. It supports a range of micro-compact and subcompact pistols, including models from Glock, Sig Sauer, Springfield Armory, Shadow Systems, and more.
  • Adjustable Holster Claw and Clips: The holster claw can be adjusted for height, width, and depth to accommodate different carry preferences. The holster also uses clips from Discreet Carry Concepts.
  • AntiMatter Thumb Ledge Compatibility: The Gen 2 Kompat is compatible with AntiMatter’s thumb ledge accessory.
  • Optional Magazine and Tourniquet Carriers: Users can opt for an additional magazine carrier or a tourniquet carrier designed to accommodate the SnakeStaff ETQ.

The Bottom Line

More than two years after introducing the original Universal Kompat, Flux Defense has returned with a redesigned holster focused on reducing its footprint and improving production. The move from 3D printing to injection molding addresses manufacturing challenges, while the smaller design and adjustable features give concealed-carry users more flexibility.

The Kompat’s biggest selling point is its broad compatibility with micro-compact and subcompact pistols. However, that versatility comes with an important caveat: the holster’s retention system is designed around the Streamlight TLR-7 Sub, so users will need to confirm that their specific pistol and light configuration are supported.
