Two years ago, Shadow Systems introduced the DR920P, the first compensated handgun from the Texas company. The DR920P features a compensator with a tool-less lockup system, which avoided a threaded barrel, making it legal in states that restrict threaded barrels. Now, Shadow Systems is expanding their compensated lineup with the MR920P and XR920P. These new pistols from Shadow Systems will uphold the quality, reliability, and attention to detail that their pistols are known for. Let’s take a closer look at what the new pistols have to offer.

The MR920P and XR920P will feature aggressive front, rear, and top slide serrations, a match-grade barrel, optics-ready capabilities, enhanced flat-face triggers, and green tritium night sights. The P series also introduces Shadow Systems’ new slimline compensator with patent-pending lockup, as seen on the CR920P. The compensator features a proprietary 3-lug QD system which works in conjunction with a centrally located locking lever on the body of the compensator.

The goal of the compensator is to reduce felt recoil and muzzle rise to allow for quicker and more accurate follow-up shots. Shadow Systems has rigorously tested their compensators by putting thousands of rounds through it without any maintenance to ensure there was no loss in reliability and no carbon lockout of the compensator while testing. Test shooters witnessed a substantial reduction in muzzle rise. The amount of muzzle rise reduction was subjective to the individual shooter. Shadow Systems estimates shooters will see up to a 40% reduction in muzzle rise.

Shadow Systems’ engineering and design team provide thoughtful and effective design solutions when developing the MR920P and XR920P, particularly in terms of holster compatibility. The compensator only adds 0.5 inches to the overall length of the pistols, allowing both to fit successfully in a Glock 17 holster. Often, end-users have to modify their holsters or purchase new ones to accommodate a threaded barrel and compensator.

The MR920P and XR920P are solid additions to the Shadow Systems P series of compensated pistols. These two models offer greater diversity for end-users, catering to various needs from a law enforcement perspective to concerned armed citizens protecting their families and communities.

The MR920P and XR920P aren’t available quite yet. The new pistols in Shadow Systems’ lineup will be available in the coming months. The MR920P will retail for approximately $1,200 and the XR920P for around $1,300. For more information on Shadow Systems pistols, please visit their website.
