Taurus has long been known for producing accessible, widely available handguns across a broad spectrum of users. With the launch of the TX9 series, the company is signaling a more deliberate shift one aimed squarely at the duty-grade pistol market.

Announced last week, the TX9 represents Taurus’ first purpose built duty pistol platform, designed, tested, and manufactured in the United States. Rather than a derivative update, the TX9 is positioned as a clean-sheet system intended to meet modern military, law enforcement, and professional use standards.

Familiar Foundations, Refined for Duty Use

The TX9 builds on the proven ergonomics and design language of the TX22, translating that shooter-friendly DNA into a striker-fired 9mm platform engineered for duty use, personal defense, and concealed carry. The goal is consistency across grip, trigger feel, and controls regardless of pistol configuration.

Instead of treating each size as a separate model, Taurus approached the TX9 as a unified system, designed to scale without forcing users to adapt to different handling characteristics.
