Recently, Wilson Combat officially broke new ground on an additional 16,000 square feet addition to their facilities. The addition of the new facility was to accommodate the surge in demand of their products. The new 16,000 sq ft expansion will include warehouse space, a larger parking lot, and 8th building added to their building complex. When all said and done Wilson Combat campus will grow to 93,200 square feet overall.

The expansion will create a 20% increase in Wilson Combat workforce when the new facility is operational. Wilson Combat currently employs 200 people which means Wilson will be looking to hire about 40 new employees. Currently, the expansion is set to be done by the end of January.

Much of this new growth is due to surge in firearm demand due to lockdowns, riots, and civil unrest that swept through the U.S. in 2020. Another factor in Wilson Combat’s growth has been offering custom gunsmithing on new weapon platforms. The company has added custom work on the Beretta M92 (2016), Glock (2017), and the SIG P320 (2020). These factors have combined and contributed to the need for expansion by Wilson Combat to add 16,000 sq ft to their campus.

The growth seen in Wilson is indicative of the growth we seen throughout the firearms community through anecdotal evidence and hard numbers. Last, year the FBI NICS conducted about 35.75 million background checks. That is 26% higher than in 2019. Which was also a record year at the time. The NICS checks aren’t an end all be all of total sales but gives a good indication on success and growth of the industry.
