Crimson Trace is known for making well built red dots, LPVO’s, weapon lights, and aiming devices for pistol and rifle. Now, Crimson Trace is adventuring into the dense and ever growing market of pistol red dots. Recently, the company introduced the Crimson Trace Rapid Aiming Devices or RAD for short.

The RAD is a series of red dot sights from Crimson Trace. The new RAD red dots can be used in diverse applications from pistol, to carbine, to shotgun. The Crimson Trace RAD red dot sights have several models to choose from available in red or green dot aiming reticle.

The first Crimson Trace series of optics is the full size CT RAD full size. It features a 3-MOA (red dot), 5-MOA (green dot), and features a integrated rear sight. The CT RAD uses a Docter footprint. The Docter footprint is used by the Vortex Venom Red Dot and Burris Fast Fire 2.

Second, you have the CT RAD Micro. The RAD micro also features a 3-MOA (red dot), 5-MOA (green dot), and features a integrated rear sight. It also features a integrated rear sight just as full size CT RAD. The RAD micro uses the shield RMS footprint for its mounting solution.

Third, you have the Pro series of CT RAD full size and mini. The Pro series will have the same features and includes a shake awake feature.

Finally, you have the CT RAD Max. The Max has all the same features of the Pro and includes a beefy Picatinny rail mount.

All versions of the Crimson Trace feature automatic brigthness adjustment and a top cover for easier battery removal and replacement. The CT RAD series claims a 20,000 hour battery life for red dot variant and 7,000 hour battery life for the green dot.

The CT RAD™ (Rapid Aiming Dot) Electronic Sight is a full-size Open Reflex Sight for full frame pistols. Featuring a red 3 MOA aiming dot, the CT RAD™ has a recessed and fully multi-coated lens with a large quick acquisition window. The CT RAD™ comes with an AUTO Shutoff Function that automatically shuts off after 8 consecutive hours of operation to conserve battery life and a manual ON/OFF Function that allows you to turn on or off the sight by using the side brightness buttons. The CT RAD™ is easily installed on an optics cut slide using the CT RAD™ footprint that is also compatible with the Docter® footprint. Textured sides allow for a secure grip when racking the slide.

The CT RAD™ has large brightness setting buttons for easy use even with gloves on. Made of 7075 Series Aerospace Aluminum, it is 30% stronger than most industry standard sights made with 6061 Series Aluminum. The entire CT RAD™ family has an Innovative top strap design that deflects force if the sight is dropped. Our engineers developed a better way to reduce stress on the lens of reflex sights. By combining out-of-the-box thinking with next-level physics, we designed a system that both re-enforces your optic and reduces stress if it happens to get dropped. CT RAD Micro

The CT RAD™ Micro (Rapid Aiming Dot) Electronic Sight is an ultra-compact Open Reflex Sight for compact and subcompact pistols. Featuring a red 3 MOA aiming dot, the CT RAD™ Micro has a recessed and fully multi-coated lens with a large quick acquisition window. The CT RAD™ Micro comes with the CT RADIANT™ Ambient Light Sensor that automatically adjusts the aiming dot’s brightness to the surrounding lighting condition. The Micro is easily installed on an optics cut slide using the CT micro™ footprint that is also compatible with the Shield RMS® and JPoint® footprints.

The Micro has a rear sight notch cut into the back to line up with your front iron sight. Made of 7075 Series Aerospace Aluminum, it is 30% stronger than most industry standard sights made with 6061 Series Aluminum. Crimson’s Trace new CT RAD red dots are available now. The new CT RAD full size retails for the standard model and $250 $300 for the pro version. The CT Micro retails for $225 for the standard version and $275 for the pro version.
