Two years ago, Holosun introduced the world to its first foray into weapon-mounted lights with the P.ID series. Now, Holosun seeks to expand that offering with their first rifle-mounted weapon light—meet the Rifle Area Illumination Device, better known as the RAID. The RAID was built from the ground up to be rugged, reliable, and bright flashlight, bringing the best of both worlds in terms of lumens and candela at an economical price point.
Crafted from strong and lightweight T-7075 aluminum, the RAID can withstand recoil up to 2000G, covering most larger caliber rounds such as .308 Win. The new WML also features an IPX8 waterproof certification. The IPX8 rating states that the device can be submerged to a depth of 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes and still function properly, allowing the RAID to function properly in most harsh and diverse environments.

The RAID unit is powered by a rechargeable 18650 Li-ion battery, reducing the need to buy expensive disposable batteries. Charging the RAID is simple; it features a magnetic charging cable that attaches to the end cap simplifying and modernizing Holosun’s new WML.
In the illumination department, the RAID holds its own when compared to other WMLs in the industry. Holosun’s RAID boasts a solid 1,000 lumens and a max of 80,000 candela, giving it the capability to illuminate an area or target well while also breaking through photonic barriers created by dust, fog, or gunpowder.

Activating the RAID is intuitive for the end user. It features an integrated tail cap button for activation of the white light or by the compact remote switch, which is included. Holosun’s WML can be mounted to either a Picatinny Rail or M-Lok slot, allowing end users multiple ways to mount the device to their rifles.
The RAID by Holosun brings a compact, adaptable, and rechargeable light that can be used in diverse applications from home defense, training, or tactical operations with confidence. The RAID isn’t available yet but will be in the coming months. The new weapon light from Holosun will retail for $139.99 MSRP, making it an affordable light that is punching above its weight class and adding tremendous value to the end user. Questions abound about how it will hold up when tested by the masses, but it’s a strong contender to make an impact.
