At Shot Show 2024, Nemo Arms stepped outside of its comfort zone and announced a new pistol caliber carbine to the market named the Mongoose. Traditionally known for crafting high-end AR-15s and AR-10s, the Mongoose marks a significant departure from what we typically see from the Idaho manufacturer. This new 9mm offering is a first for the company, and the engineers and designers have invested considerable thought into creating a familiar yet modern PCC, with features and quality-of-life experiences we hope to see.

The Nemo Arms Mongoose features a 5.8-inch barrel, Nemo’s extruded aluminum upper receiver, and a meticulously machined billet aluminum lower. Designed to be a well-built and robust platform for the end user, the Mongoose offers a proprietary operating system that combines the roller delay system seen in an MP5 with the tilting barrel of a Glock. This unique system allows for a smooth recoil reminiscent of the MP5. With both a roller delay system and a tilting barrel, Nemo’s engineering and design team have addressed the additional hardware required to ensure that the Mongoose operates robustly, accurately, and reliably. The upper receiver also includes a non-reciprocating charging handle with an integrated compensator that can be easily removed to expose the barrel and threads for attaching a suppressor. The forend of the Mongoose also features M-Lok slots for mounting any weapon lights or foregrips to your PCC.

The lower of the Mongoose features an AR-style lower receiver with ambidextrous controls and an AR pistol grip. Currently, the lower houses a modified AR trigger, and Nemo Arms is actively working on providing more AR parts compatible with its lower. Additionally, the lower features a 1913 Picatinny backplate which allows for the attachment of braces and stocks. The Mongoose will be fed by 35-round CZ Scorpion pattern magazines.

In the end, Nemo Arms seeks to set the Mongoose apart from other PCCs on the market by offering an interesting proprietary operating system that defies the expectations we have for PCCs. Along with meticulously crafted receiver sets, high-end build quality, and AR pattern controls, the Mongoose could be a game-changer in the PCC market. The Mongoose is set to hit the streets in April of this year. We will have to wait and see how it all plays out for Nemo’s new PCC.
